It began in January of 2002 in the living room of director, Janelle Metzger, as an outreach to help Middle-Eastern women learn English and adapt to life in the US. It was named "The American School for Women and Children" by our students to reflect our unique approach of part-time, women-only classes with childcare facilities.
The school has grown to six levels of English classes
of not more than ten students per class and a childcare enrollment of 15-20 children. The women have come to us from more than 15 different
countries.
Besides English, women learn about American culture and life skills.
They also develop supportive friendships with other immigrant women as
well as American women.
